7 Ways to Improve Your Relationship with The Qur’an

“وَقَالَ الرَّسُولُ يَا رَبِّ إِنَّ قَوْمِي اتَّخَذُوا هَٰذَا الْقُرْآنَ مَهْجُورًا”

“O my Lord, indeed my people have taken this Qur’an as a thing (abandoned)” [Surah 25: 30]

A Ramadan Checklist

1. Ask Allah to enable you to reach Ramadan and to get the most out of it as the Salaf used to do.

2. Intend to fast every day with Iman and pure intention seeking the reward from Allah alone. The Prophet peace be upon him said, “Whoever fasts in Ramadan with Iman and seeking reward (from Allah) his past sins will be forgiven”. (Bukhari)

3. Read the whole Qur’an at least once as the Prophet peace be upon him did.

4. Have Suhoor as the Prophet peace be upon him said, “Have Suhoor because it is blessed”.

5. Make Du’a during the fast because the Prophet peace be upon him said that three people’s supplication is not rejected one of them is the fasting person. Ask for the good of this life and the next for yourself, your family and Muslims in general.

Khalid Ibn El-Waleed narrated the following:

A Bedouin came one day to the prophet and said to him, “O, Messenger of Allah! I’ve come to ask you a few questions about the affairs of this life and the Hereafter.

Ask what you wish.

I’d like to be the most of learned of men.

Fear Allah, and you will be the most learned of men.

I’d like to be the richest man in the world
Be contented, and you will be the richest man in the world.

I’d like to be the most of just men.
Desire for others what you desire for yourself, and you will be the most just of men.

Remember Allah ;)

Remember Allah in prosperity, and He will remember you in adversity.

Kiat Khusyu’ dalam Shalat

Ada beberapa kiat khusyu’ dalam shalat yang kerap kali disinggung oleh para ulama dalam buku-buku mereka khususnya yang berkenaan dengan hukum dan tata cara shalat. Di antaranya:

1. Mengenal Allah, Menghadirkan, Mengagungkan dan Takut Kepada-Nya

Orang yang paling khusyu’ dalam shalat adalah orang yang paling bertakwa, sebagaimana firman Allah:

“(orang-orang yang khusyu’ yaitu) orang-orang yang meyakini bahwa mereka akan menemui Rabb mereka, dan bahwa mereka akan kembali kepada-Nya.” (QS. Al-Baqarah: 46)

Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala juga berfirman:

“Sesungguhnya yang takut (bertakwa) kepada Allah hanyalah para ulama.” (QS. Al-Fathir: 28)

Sejarah Singkat Penulisan & Pembukuan Hadits

Pada masa permulaan Al-Qur’an masih diturunkan, Nabi shallallahu ‘alaihi wa sallam melarang menulis hadits karena dikhawatirkan akan bercampur baur dengan penulisan Al-Qur’an. Pada masa itu, disamping menyuruh menulis Al-Qur’an, Nabi shallallahu ‘alaihi wa sallam juga menyuruh menghafalkan ayat-ayat Al-Qur’an.

Pelarangan penulisan hadits ini berdasarkan sabda Nabi shallallahu ‘alaihi wa sallam:

“Janganlah kamu menulis sesuatu dariku, dan barangsiapa telah menulis sesuatu dariku selain Al-Qur’an hendaklah ia menghapusnya, dan ceritakan dariku, tidak ada keberatan (kamu ceritakan apa yang kamu dengar dariku). Dan barangsiapa berdusta atas namaku dengan sengaja, maka hendaklah ia menyediakan tempat duduknya di dalam neraka.” (HR. Muslim)
